WHITEKAT @ WORLD AIDS DAY

World Aids Day saw Whitekat performing a short and very powerful piece of visual street theatre co-written/created by Samantha Devitt at the London fashion college of arts supporting S.H.A.G. week at their very own fashion show fund.



The audience sat silent as Cyko Logic played the HIV positive patient and narrator Jock Charlson went through a very influencial speech.






We were also there screening for chlamydia offering advise on sexual health and offering incentives including the new DWi t-shirt world aids day colours currentlyexclusive to whitekat.

Look out for us tommorrow down Soho Square where we will begin to showcase a new piece throughtout the afternoon following the 18 & 6 bus route!!

The Whitekat ARE YOU DOWN with Dance competition Hosted by Cyko Logic and TKSPIN MASTERS OF MOVEMENT funded by The Westminster Primary Care Trust saw more than 50 dancers competing in front of a packed house Saturday 14th of November at Paddington Arts.
Young people received advice and information about Chlamydia... And the opportunity to be screened.

Prizes from the Westminster Primary Care Trust included a An Exclusive BLACK 'Nintendo wii' (Sports Resort pack)
An Exclusive Sony PSP (Monster Hunter freedom unite edition)
An 8GB Apple iPod Nano2 £25 Gift cards to use at HMV with Whitekat offering cash prizes, Trophies and a CD with a real life story of a young person who had previously been infected with Chlamydia. The CD’s were tagged by Coma for the Whitekat Charity .. A 1st generation train sprayer in New York.. ‘I am so down wid Dancing T shirts’ designed by DOWN WID IT

Pizza & refreshments made it a fun and positive night for the local community..

Dancer/Choreographer that has commercially worked and known in "Bump'n Grind" TV show. Recently worked as a dancer for JLS in X-Factor Special and presentely working for the new TV Series Photoshop in channel 4.

He also works with young children in Community events and it is part of TKSPIN MASTERS OF MOVEMENT Dance Company.

LOUISE LISTER:

Director for TKSPIN Mini Masters. Proffesionally Trained in Ballet, Contemporary & Jazz. Recentely performed in the USA at "World Of Dance" and also at Funky House Life in Wembley Arena.
Teacher and Choreographer in the Technical Team for TKSPIN MASTERS OF MOVEMENT and organises Community Events over the years.

The WhiteKat crew has had a very busy past few weeks....hitting student halls...youth groups, leisure centres and all sorts around West London bringing young people under 25 the chance to be screened for Chlamydia as well as get to grips with vital info from our in-the-know team!
Also we have been dedicating our support to the fantastic MAYbe campaign which is taking over West London this month and spreading the word through the NHS, celebs and it's wonderful supporters!

MAYbe YOU have Chlamydia???

So, May sees the launch of a very special forward thinking campaign launched across London and supported by us here at WhiteKat as well as the NHS, GPs, Pharmacists, youth group leaders....
Did you know that London is the "Chlamydia Capital" of the UK and also that Chlamydia is the fastest growing STI amongst under 25's???
Did you know that Chlamydia can also lead to infertility in both men and women as well as arthritis if left untreated???
Chlamydia can show no symptoms...so MAYbe you have it?
The MAYbe campaign will be hosting over 200 events organised by the NHS all over west London hitting Kensington, Chelsea, Fulham, Westminster and Hammersmith...
During the month of May the MAYbe campaign will be giving young people in west London aged 16-24 to be screened for Chlamydia for free!

Ch Ch Check out these facts and figures about the reality of Chlamydia that were a result of an NHS sponsored survey amongst under 25's in West London...

· 60% of under-25s cannot say for certain that they don’t have Chlamydia

· 66% said that they had had unprotected sex: (54% had done so in the last six months)

· 72% of those who had had unprotected sex had never been tested

· 70% said they were ‘not worried’ about STIs

· 65% did not ask the last person they had unprotected sex with about their sexual history

We recently did a very sucessful session at 'Westminster Health and Fitness" which is part of the University of Westminster so would love to say MASSIVE thanks to Adamson who allowed us to set up camp! The good news is you can find us there every couple of weeks offering our pearls of wisdom on all things safe sex related as well as nab yourself some free goodies and get yourself tested!

We just wanted to let you know about how much we LOVE throwing our once monthly events at Paddington Arts Centre...The venue sees the Whitekat team setting up shop every third Monday of the month with bundles of free goodies, free advice and team of young friendly Kats ready and waiting to answer your questions and give you the opportunity to get yourself tested for Chlamydia in a comfortable and relaxed environment!
It's a great atmosphere as we take over our own private room where you can come and approach us!
Yesterday saw our second successful session at the venue and would you believe we gave away 5 BOXES OF FREE CONDOMS?! Great to know that our attendees are all about staying safe! To date we have screened over 75 young people between the ages of 16-24 at the Paddington Arts Venue! WOW! HUGE thanks to Paddington Arts for having us as their guests!
So as we said...we will be there every third Monday of the month...
